BRS Local 56
Local 56 represents Communications and Signal employees working for the Long Island Rail Road.
Local 56 has been resolute in the establishment and protection of the rights and working conditions of it's represented employees, and will continue to be so in an uncertain and ever changing environment.
"Those who would destroy or further limit the rights of organized labor, those who cripple collective bargaining or prevent organization of the unorganized, do a disservice to the cause of democracy".
"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Rights and Fairness of Labor "If capitalism is fair then unionism must be. If men have a right to capitalize their ideas and the resources of their country, then that implies the right of men to capitalize their labor."
